Enjoy this round reed creation.  Ridge weave is the basis for the central design of this basket bordered by a row of 4-rod wale above and below.  The rows of ridge weave are later enhanced with overlays of cane.   Approx. 11” D x 7 ½” H Intermediate

Students will taper reed staves and insert them into a walnut wood base then weave with dyed dark brown hamburg cane over a mold.  The half round reed rim will be glued, nailed, and lashed on.   The lashing will also be done with dyed cane. 
Approx.  10 ½” L x 7” W x 3 ½” H

FANCY WILLIAMSBURG

Weaving on a Williamsburg style handle, students will weave a filled base, learn chase weaving, triple twining, and stacked weaving while increasing the height of the ends of the basket.  This beautiful, large basket is then topped off with a rolled Gretchen border.  Some of the border may need to be completed after class time.  Color will be natural and tan. Approx. 12”W x 18”L (at top) x 10” H (not including handle)
