| POWDERED PIGMENTS AND COILING Marla Helton 8:30-6:00 (8 hr) This class introduces students to the beautiful options of coloring a gourd with powdered pigments. Everyone will get to experiment with a variety of luscious colors to create the one just right for them. After sealing the colors, students will drill holes and learn to coil weave using danish cord. Hand dyed silk ribbon and mizuhiki will be used as accents on this beautiful and creative piece. If easily available please bring a cordless drill with 1/16" drill bit and hair dryer. | DOUBLE D Jan Schmidt 8:30-6:00 (8 hr) This is a solid woven base incorporating two D handles. Use space dyed reed to achieve the stained glass window affect. Learn to wrap weave the handles as you go using hamburg cane. The decorative X’s on the side of the basket are hamburg cane as well. (You may need to finish the overlay “X” on your own.) “Body Stretch and Shoulder Opener for Weavers” As most of us know, weaving and desk work can cause shoulder, neck and wrist pain and tension. Marla will offer this half hour class using gentle yoga techniques for opening up those tight areas and is suitable for all body types. Most of this class will be done in a sitting position and can be modified for those in a wheelchair or using a walker. Please wear comfortable clothing. Cost $5.00 |
