| NANTUCKET STYLE OVAL MARLYS SOWERS Students taper reed staves and insert them into a hardwood base and weave with cane over a mold. The preformed half round reed rim will be glued, nailed and lashed. This is a great basket if you haven’t done many Nantucket style baskets. Discussion includes number of staves and the taper for different sizes of molds, attaching handles, and finishing your completed basket. | PEDESTAL TAPESTRY SAMPLER VENIE HINSON Explore several “tapestry” techniques using a variety of materials in this sampler. Begin with turned hardwood pedestal base, mold and spokes inserted and twined in place. Techniques include plain and twill weave, ti-twining, 2-3-and 4 rod waling, reverse waling, overlays, and insets. Choose from waxed linens, barks, caning, dyed ash, maple, black walnut, cherry, poplar, leathers, palm inflorescence, philodendron leaf sheaths, pine needles, sweetgrass and variety of dyed round and flat reeds.
